Marti McKee is a native of San Francisco who came into the art world later in life. Perhaps due to delaying her artist dream she has pursued the study of the figure with commitment and intensity during the last 15 years.

Biography I was born in England, raised in Canada and moved to San Francisco as a young woman. I raised a family, remodeled homes, painted, did carpentry and made a living making production art pieces. During this time I attended U.C. Extension, College of Marin and studied with various art instructors.

My paintings express my deep connection to the land. They are a conversation with the land, a response to a call. I respond first with a sense of being captured by the land, a rootedness and sense of deep pleasure in what I see in front of me.

I began to experiment with making my own marks more fluid. Mixing medium into my oil paints to make them more liquid, I then began to pour paint and medium onto my canvas letting the colors flow and blend.

A house-wife artist struggling to survive suburban motherhood amidst too many cars, Parsons paints with beeswax and laundry stain remover over landscape photos. Inspired by the orchards disappearing near her hometown in Chico, these photos were taken from the freeway while stuck in traffic.
