C, Courageous

C, Courageous
Printmaking
Born in Detroit, Michigan. Courageous started creating art as soon as his motor skills began to develop. Renaissance, Dutch, and Pre Raphaelite paintings quickly caught the eye of a very inquisitive young artist. The grand illusions of the great masters would captivate, and pre-empt a life long jouney.

"I make art to pay tribute to the spirit within. I use the body, born of Earth, as the connector to higher consciousness. Form is emptiness; emptiness is form."

Doolin, Peter A

Doolin, Peter A
Printmaking
My usual subjects are people, of a sort, interacting - or dreamscapes, landscapes of another "here". What exactly my characters represent, or what they are doing, is not for me to say - I don't ask them. Sometimes, though, they seem simply to be posing for a portrait, and so I oblige them.

Groleau, James

Groleau, James
Printmaking
I was drawn to the vaguely haunted look of 19th century daguerreotypes, particularly to the portaiture of children, and relied on examples of this genre for ideas on facial expression. I chose to depict medieval garb for the brilliant color and flamboyant designs reminscent of flowers. I extended the correlation between portrait and flower by giving the portraits Latin titles, an allusion to botanical names.

I love to paint the part of ourselves that is hard to look at but is still beautiful and true. I use "monsters" as symbol of our excessive emotions, that I linked with desires. I depart for a twist of the context for a personal journey through the others' eyes.
