Born and raised in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, Deanna's love of quality fabrics, their creative possibilities, & a deep sense of pride in fine craftsmanship started at the age of eleven when her Grandmother Hyatt first taught her how to sew. Although having always designed for herself and her family, from formal wear to interior design during her marriage to a military pilot, Deanna's priority remained with raising her children as a single parent, when the 14 year marriage ended.
Throughout her adult life, with her many moves across Canada, & then during her 18 year career as a real estate agent in Calgary, Alberta Deanna continually took art classes, as a need and form of remaining grounded.
The next natural progression and drive was to fibre art, and designing "one of a kind' wearable art 10 years ago. Since that time Deanna has resided as a full time artist in the picturesque Rocky Mountains about two hours from Banff, Alberta. "I just have to look out my window to see how Mother Nature puts form and colour together in unexpected, yet stunning combinations that delight the eye. Mother Nature and Grandmother Hyatt are my greatest influences" |
