I began my artistic reawakening by studying watercolor and oils in sunny Puerto Vallarta Mexico - a warm and cheerful spot that has become my yearly winter retreat. What inspires me most is color, design and value contrasts. I am attracted by abstract organic patterns found in nature - the graceful rounded shapes of rivers and streams or plant forms, silhouettes of figures, aerial views of landscapes - or by vibrant scenes encountered on my foreign travels. And I am drawn to rich color combinations - bright tropical hues like those I might find in a lively market or quaint village panorama or even in the ornamental design of a tribal costume.
