Mike Kimball is an artist living and working in Santa Fe, NM, and is the progenitor of the "Nuevo Geo" visual style. This completely new visual art style has origins in the futurism and synchronism movements of the previous century and is closely affiliated with the American Precisionists of the 1930's. The style features a stripped down graphic style using bold color that borders on the geometrically abstract.
Kimball has exhibited his work both nationally and and internationally. He is a member of the California Society of Printmakers, and has printed at many professional printmaking studios including the Centrum Franz Masereel studios in Kasterlee, Belgium, the KALA institute in Berkeley, CA and Lynch Pin Press in Taos, NM.
He has been a guest artist at the Southwest Print Fiesta in Silver City, NM, the "Roadworks" show at the San Francisco Center for the Book, and the Artspace at Untitled in Oklahoma City, where his oversize linoleum block prints were printed with steamrollers.
Kimball currently teaches printmaking at the Santa Fe Community College, Santa Fe, and works in his painting studio in Placitas, NM. |
