I grew up on the Gulf Coast of Texas, dreaming of beauty and avidly reading biographies of women who had lived in more exotic times and places.

After moving to San Francisco, I owned a picture framing company for many years, framing fine art for museums and collectors.  I often traveled to France and became a fervent admirer of the feminine aspect of French culture.

The study of passionate women from the past became a source of great creative interest to me.  I painted images of these women - and of dreamy landscapes suggested by eras of romance and lost grandeur.

The inspiration for my painting is drawn from my imagination, my travels, and the intimate observation of master works of art. The images I create are an expression of the subconscious desire to give visual reality to the dreams of the soul.

From HESPE GALLERY press release: "Ms. Heinemann's body of work is provocative in subject matter, composition and style. She uses highly saturated colors and emotive, sensual forms to create glowing images that engage the viewer's imagination and distinguish her signature style."

From ARTS CAPE WEST, INTL. catalog: "Nancy Heinemann's portraits leap out with rich color to create parodistic figurative images. Women lie amidst layers of color that glitter like gemstones. Ms. Heinemann's landscapes and seascapes are luminous and moodily realistic."

From NEXTMONET.COM website: "Nancy Heinemann's vibrant works exude a sense of luxury and sensuality, reflecting the inspiration she takes from passionate women in history and her love of books. Her work is characterized by bold colors and graphic curves, a testament to a strong spirit and a zest for adventure."
