The Flower People Series
The Flower People is the name of the latest series of original artworks by Courageous-- a community of diverse botanical beings who live in a world called Velaria. Courageous thought to combine two themes he admires most, floral and figurative imagery to articulate the subject matter of the series. In this series of works, Courageous explores human nature through the use of colorful floral beings, which have humanistic qualities. The overall cool pallets of greens in the compositions are meant to soothe and heal, while the round shapely figures are used to make your eyes smile. Butterflies, cats, owls, and frogs are supporting cast members that act as guides and symbols to tell this whimsical story. In addition, the series will touch upon social beliefs and perceptions of males and females such as: size acceptance, family values, healthy self-esteem, agriculture, and living green. Oil paints, glitters, Austrian crystals, canvas, wood, and found objects are used in the compositions, to bring the final visions to life.
“I hope my vision helps to inspire each and every viewer to love themselves and their unique qualities. I hope to inspire the viewer to love others for their unique differences as well. I believe if we can start with loving ourselves and our families, we can then go on to love our neighbors, communities, cities, countries, and our world. Love can certainly cure and support all things.”
