1992 to Present
In this print of Van Gogh, here is a trial proof printed in black ink on white paper. This was not the initial intent of the print. My initial purpose when I set out to carve the block was to print white or light ink on black paper. (see prints on black paper in "recent work," as I completed a few copies.) With this work, I am limiting the number and type of marks in a handmade pattern. I used traditional woodcutting chisels, and tried maximizing the amount of visual detail within this abstract patterning. This print is made to look very different from close up or far away.
