From my childhood years I was awed by the paintings of the Dutch master Hyeronimus Bosch. who created his masterpiece "The Garden of Earthly Delights", in the late 1400s. Imagine, he produced that inspirational piece of all surrealist painters before Columbus travelled to America!!!!! For many years, IN THE SEVENTIES I had a reproduction of the tryptich in my office that I had acquired at the Prado Museum of Madrid. I worked facing it 8 to 10 hours a day. This magnificent work was and is a point of fascination for Psychoanlysts and people interested in the unconscious. For many years I wanted to sculpt a threedimensional version of the tree man, which is the focal point of the Hell/Right panel of the tryptich and is said to be a self portrait of Bosch. Only now my skills in ceramic work have allowed me to undertake this ambicious and difficult project. The ceramic sculpture "Homage to Hyeronimus Bosch" is 33" x 24" x 18" and was fired by me in my kiln in this year 2008.
