In the Visual Arts Residency Program, artists make a full-time commitment to collaborate with an under-served community group to create artwork based on issues relevant to the participants' lives. The residency offers artists an onsite apartment/studio space and stipend for 8 weeks, inclusion in a nationally distributed catalog, and possible exhibition. Only U.S. citizens are eligible to apply.

Escape to Create offers 1 month-long residency each January. Artists from varying disciplines are chosen through an application process to work on a specific project. At the end of the month, artists present their work to the community.

One-year residencies (which may be extended) are offered to pre-professional emerging artists, at least 18 years of age, who have completed a reasonable amount of secondary education, can demonstrate adequate experience in ceramics, and can submit evidence of a body of work to support the application. Residencies include studio space, 24-hour access to the facilities, discounted firings, display space for finished work, teaching opportunities, free admission to workshops, and an exhibit. Artists are required to work 12 hours/week under the direction of artists-in-residence managers.

Kalani offers visual artists, writers, and dancers simple room and board and limited shared workspace in rural Hawaii, for residencies of 2 weeks to 3 months. Stipends provide 50% of lodging costs and are available from May-July and September-December; artists are responsible for remaining costs.

Studios Midwest provides 5 visiting artists with an 8-week summer residency, which includes housing, studio space, a public slide show and exhibition, publicity, and discounts on art supplies. Artists are expected to have slides of their artwork available for informal presentation; participate in media publicity; show results of their summer work; and complete a program evaluation on departure.

The Professional Artists' Residencies for practicing visual artists and writers offer a secluded, natural environment, for 1-2 weeks during the summer (students are not eligible). Recipients receive a small private studio and room and board. Residency fee applies; a limited number of one-week residency scholarships are available.
