How to pack your artwork

You can use any of your preferred methods of packaging. Below are two examples of methods that could be used.

The "Bubblewrap" method:

1. Wrap artwork on all sides with at least 4 inches of bubble wrap, preferably of one-inch diameter.
2. Place the wrapped artwork inside a sturdy outer box.
3. Fill all spaces with additional bubble wrap or other cushioning material such as Styrofoam peanuts, so that the artwork snuggly fits inside the box.
6. Close and tape the box. To tape, use pressure sensitive tape of at least 2 inches width. Apply 3 strips of tape to top and bottom of the box. Make sure to tape all seams and flaps.

Note: this method is not suitable for artworks with thin fragile parts, such as glass figurines. For those, use the "box-in-box" method.

The "box-in-box" method:

1. Wrap artwork with at least two inches of bubble wrap or foam material.
2. Use a second (outer) box that is at least 6 inches longer on all sides then the inner box.
3. Fill the bottom of outer box with 2 or 3 inches of cushioning material, such as Styrofoam peanuts or bubble wrap.
4. Place the smaller box inside the outer box.
5. Fill space on all sides and top with cushioning material.
6. Close and tape the box. To tape, use pressure sensitive tape of at least 2 inches width. Apply 3 strips of tape to top and bottom of the box. Make sure to tape all seams and flaps.

Tip:
Prior to wrapping up framed artwork, apply masking tape in a criss-cross pattern on the glass or Plexiglas surface. This will prevent the glass from splinter if it should break while being transported.
