Alexander V. Novikov was born in the town of Kazan (Tatarstan Republic). His primary artistic education was at the Kazan Art School for Children. In 1979 he graduated from the Kazan College of Arts' department of theatrical design. Since 1980 Alexander has been combining his own creative work with teaching children at the Art School.
Novikov's works can be divided into oil painting and woodwork. But irrespective of the medium, his creations are dealing with one eternal subject - a circle of life, a period from birth until death. Life and death are always together, and for the artist it is not a tragedy but a profound comprehension of philosophic circulation.
Novikov's favorite genres in painting are still-life and portrait; his wooden sculptures are either images of eggs, the initial form of life, or fish, whose element, water, is the foundation of life.
Alexander Novikov's works can be found in private collections in Moscow, Kazan, St. Petersburg, and in the USA, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Israel, Germany, Austria, Malta, Yugoslavia and Turkey.
