Erik L Framke grew up in Chicago,Il and has been a fixture in the urban art scene for the last 15 years.A resident of the Wicker Park area in Chicago the last ten years, Erik has been a part of one of the most influential art,music,and fashion scenes in the world.Starting out as a well known, underground street artist,Eriks street murals quickly gained him attention around the city.The demand for his art led Erik to start his own underground studio,gallery,workspace in the Wicker Park neighborhood."It was the closest thing I ever saw in Chicago that compared to the Warhol Factory",recalls artist and friend Dan Galler."It was this huge loft on the top floor of this delapidated building off Damen Ave." After 8 years of art,music,and countless creative guests the building was a casualty of the neighborhoods real estate boom and torn down.Erik has since split his time between Chicago and the desert mountains in Mesa,Az.His love of black and white photograghy has led him deep into the Arizona desert taking pictures that he considers some of the best of his career.His paintings still retain their edgy, street sense but now incorporate the infinite beauty of nature and the sense of awe it inspires.He says of his new work," I love the duality of my existence in the big city and the desolate desert."He adds,"I try and find beauty in everything around me or this world would make blow my brains out!"
