"The Ground Upon Which We Stand"
Regional Juried Art Exhibition
Abraham Claghorn Gallery

"Seventy-eight artists speak out about the sacredness of the land and the importance of standing your ground in this era of climate change in The Ground Upon Which We Stand. This regional juried exhibition is sponsored by the Northern California Women’s Caucus for Art, a nonprofit.
In the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, broken climate accord agreements, gutting of the EPA, record-breaking heat, and global conflagration, this show examines artists’ reactions to the sacredness of nature and the existential crisis of our time: global degradation. The Ground Upon Which We Stand also shines a spotlight on women’s identities and their embodied experiences with planet Earth."

The Boats Project- A Traveling Exhibit

In November 2017 the Berlin Newspaper Der Tagesspiegel published the list of over 33,000 refugees that were killed since the beginning of the refugee crisis. Many of the dead are nameless, many disappeared without trace in the Mediterranean.
                  See page 4 for images

This project is dedicated to these lost souls. The idea of a traveling exhibit emerged, an installation that can be set up and taken down quickly, that can be taken along easily while traveling. I started to create boats out of coffee sleeves, then cut up the 48 pages long list to fit onto the boats. The boats are meant to symbolize the journey of the lost souls as they drift and travel on, the souls of the nameless and others whose names we know and not much more.
