“Pre-flight” is my interpretation of a wounded pelican with a broken wing that still intends to fly. I grew up in Florida, near the ocean so I saw these birds often. At the age of 18, my family life had been very difficult and I was a wounded soul.
“Body of Water” was my first sculpture and reflects the essence of the female form and pairs it with the attributes of water. Females and water can be soft and fluid as well as destructive. When I was a young child, I almost drowned and had to be resuscitated. This form shows the damaging yet beautiful effect of water.
