1992 to Present
In this print of Van Gogh, I used an old block that I previously carved in 1993 and had not pulled more than 1 or 2 copies. With the previous prints made, I printed black ink on white paper. This was not the initial intent of the print. My initial purpose when i set out to carve the block was to print white or light ink on black paper. Black paper is much thicker than I normally print on, it also holds a lot of water, so ink is very difficult to capture onto the paper. Out of 10 of 15 printed proofs, I only came away with 4 good looking prints. 2 are printed in a light silver blue, and the other 2 in a light gold yellow.
