Description |
|
The former equities trading building on the corner of Sansome and Pine Streets in the Financial District.
Designed by the noted San Francisco architect Timothy Pflueger in 1930, it housed the offices of the brokers who worked 'on the floor' of the adjacent San Francisco Stock Exchange.
The facade facing Pine Street, with its Doric columns, was constructed in 1910 as a United States sub-treasury and was adapted to serve as the exchange's trading floor.
The building houses the City Club, an elegant art deco lounge featuring the mural work of Diego Rivera, 'Califia,' his first in the United States.
