I saw this bird frequently while I was in Saint Michael, but mostly in flight or at great distances. One cold, drizzly day my host, Mark Thompson, suggested that I set up under a fish drying rack at the edge of the sea to wait for the eiders. A few hours later I was cold, wet, and weary when this guy showed up - somehow I managed to make a halfway decent exposure.
