About the work:
'Moray @ Molokini' was created while on board the Lani Kai, just off Molokini in the Alalakeiki Channel.
This Moray Eel(Puhi) seemed to be on bad terms with anything that swam near its hole, an entrance made, courtesy of the US Government's concept of payload deliverability studies created by coral grown on rusted UXB.
UXB is an UneXploded Bomb, or US Naval Ordinance that was left from when the Navy used Molokini and Kahoolawe for target practice.
Seeing this on my first trip to Molokini back in the early spring of 2003, This image is wedged between man's capacity to destroy and natures ability to adapt to us, despite our best efforts do damage, it seems that life finds a way.
The UXB was later removed and the Puhi has learned to adapt again, I'm sure.
