About the work:
'Auau's Delight' was inspired by a series of whale breaches that occurred no more than 1000 meters outside of Lahaina's harbor, maybe 80 meters off the starboard bow, of our boat as we prepared to listen to the safety warnings for the day long excursion.
The whale breached and tail lobbed in and around the boat in quick succession, thus delaying our discussion of safety protoccol, and succesfully blocked all other boats exit and entry from the harbor for at least 40 minutes.
We were truly "mugged" by whales that day.
The Manate'a was scheduled to go out into the Auau Channel and over to Lanai that day to find Spinner Dolphins, we made it, no Dolphins this time, but what a trip it was!
