  Description

Most of us, I am sure, have heard of the story of the tortoise and the hare. It was one of my favorite childhood stories. Many times throughout my life I have found myself to be the "hare" in a situation. I started things and was impatient and eventually stopped whatever it was I was doing and nothing was accomplished. But on Thanksgiving, I was running my second marathon and I didn't train as well as I should of for it. So I decided that morning I would try to keep a slow and steady pace and just finish and not worry about the time. I did and for the most part I kept the same consistent pace. I found, three people in particular, throughout the race would fly past me and then stop and walk. I would keep my pace and I past them They would then blow right past me again, but I kept the same pace. Toward the end of the race about mile 24 or 25 I past them and they appeared to be in great pain. I kept my pace as they tried and tried to forge through their pain and muscle their way to the finish line. I ended up beating all three of them. It is true that slow and steady always wins the race!
