I took these photographs in the Pardee Home Museum, in Oakland, California, with a 4 x 5 view camera and black and white film. They are printed as kallitypes, an early photographic process, developed in 1899. The process consists of applying a light sensitive solution containing silver nitrate to acid free paper. A negative is placed on the paper after the solution dries, is exposed to light, processed and dried. The prints are archival, that is, they will last as long as the paper on which they are printed. Image is from a 4 x 5 inch negative. To see more images from this portfolio, please contact the artist.
