Palms 9th Ave, Oakland CA. A double row of palms led up to the mansion of Frances Marion "Borax" Smith. The home, Arbor Villa, featured a bowling alley and zoo. Smith developed the Key Sysytem streetcar and ferry lines, forerunner of AC Transit. He was known for "20 Mule Team Borax," a cleaning agent, mined in Death Valley.
