This is one of my milestone drawings, it has received an award for excellence in drawing and is one of my favorite pieces. The Drawing being completely done in pencil shows that drawing is more than a mere preliminary stage of art. The Girl, the main subject matter, has been constructed with abstracted body parts. This abstracted portraiture deals with the serious issue of child abuse and the way in which it can be helped. Even though this girl is obviously abused and her world a mere abstraction. She focuses her attention to a rose, perfectly in focus symbolizing her way back to reality and her hope that everything will be alright.
