In drag racing, whether on the street or at a sanctioned track, the first off the line is usually the driver with the fastest reaction time. Staging lights blink through a series of colors and when the light turns green the race is on. Sometimes a a driver's reaction is only a fraction of a second faster. Is this important? Yes - when a race can be won by 1/100th of a second!
